Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Calls on Defence Secretary

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, H.E. Miyon Lee, paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd.), at the Ministry of Defence in Colombo today (01 July).

During the meeting, cordial discussions were held on matters of mutual interest, with a focus on further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea. The discussions also explored avenues to enhance cooperation in the fields of defence, military training and exchange programmes, capacity building and regional stability. Attention was given to expanding training opportunities for Sri Lankan armed forces personnel in Korea and also opportunities for participation in defence-related exhibitions, international expos and joint military exercises.

The Defence Secretary appreciated the Republic of Korea's continued support and cooperation with Sri Lanka, while Ambassador Lee reaffirmed her country's commitment to fostering closer collaboration and expanding defence ties between the two nations.

Deputy Head of Mission of the Korean Embassy, Ms. Eunji Kang was also present at the occasion.
