Former Atlanta Fed President to Join Georgia State Fireside Chat

ATLANTA - Georgia State University's Andrew Young School of Policy Studies is inviting the public to a fireside chat with Raphael Bostic, former president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, during the inaugural Andrew Young School Research Day.

Part of the school's 30th anniversary celebration, the Andrew Young School Research Day conference highlights three decades of research impact. Bostic's fireside chat will connect his experience in economic leadership and public service with the school's work informing economic and policy decisions that shape Atlanta and communities beyond it.

The conversation will take place Oct. 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Speaker's Auditorium, Room 120 at Student Center East, 55 Gilmer St. SE, on Georgia State's downtown Atlanta Campus. Students, alumni and members of the public are welcome.

The fireside chat is co-hosted by two of the Andrew Young School's endowed chairs: Cathy Yang Liu, who holds the Michael and Enid Mescon Endowed Chair, and Ross Rubenstein, who holds the Dan E. Sweat Distinguished Chair in Educational and Community Policy.

"Atlanta's future is shaped by decisions about housing, economic opportunity and how we invest in our communities," said Thomas J. Vicino, dean of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. "Our researchers help leaders understand the consequences of those decisions. Dr. Bostic brings a valuable perspective from his leadership at the Atlanta Fed and his work in housing and public policy. This conversation is a fitting way to celebrate 30 years of research that helps move communities forward."

Bostic led the Atlanta Fed from 2017 to 2026. He previously served as assistant secretary for policy development and research at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and held faculty and leadership positions at the University of Southern California's Sol Price School of Public Policy.

The informal conversation will draw on his research, leadership and public policy experience. It concludes the Andrew Young School Research Day conference, which features presentations and discussions exploring the school's scholarship and its impact.
