The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department hosts a number of events this August, beginning on Monday, August 3, with the Youth Basketball Clinic.
Here are some other August programming highlights:
Youth Basketball Clinic
August 3-5 | Ages 6-12 | Greensboro Sportsplex, 2400 Sixteenth St. | 8 am to noon | $80
The Greensboro Sportsplex offers sport-specific clinics for ages 6-12. Each one of the clinics is $80 per participant and designed to encourage participation and enhance self-esteem while practicing sports skills and learning healthy habits to last a lifetime. Questions? Call 336-373-3272.
Puzzlepalooza for Active Adults 50+
Tuesday, August 4 | Ages 50+ | Smith Active Adult Center, 2401 Fairview St. | 10:30 am | $20 per team
Grab your friends and race to be the first team of four to finish a 500 piece puzzle. There will be prizes for the winning team.
First Friday Storytime
Friday, August 7 | Ages 0-6 | Downtown Greenway, Woven Works Park, 401 Cumberland St. | 10-10:30 am | Free
Young children will enjoy engaging books, cheerful songs, and playful movement with the Greensboro Public Library. Then stay and play at Woven Works Park's accessible playground features. The first 15 families can receive a free book, courtesy of Ready for School, Ready for Life.
Carolina Clay Guild
Saturday, August 8 | All ages | Leonard Recreation Center, 6324 Ballinger Rd. | 9:30 am to noon | Free
The Carolina Clay Guild is a non-exclusive organization of people who work with clay. This event offers the opportunity for members and the public to gain experience with ceramics. The goal is to increase skill and appreciation of clay works.
Reggae Festival
Saturday, August 15 | All ages | Barber Park, 1500 Barber Park Dr. | 5-8 pm | Free
Come celebrate reggae culture in the Greensboro community with live music, games, and food.
Greensboro Mountain Bike Preschool Program
Thursday, August 20 | Ages 2-6 | Lake Higgins Marina/Bald Eagle Trail, 4235 Hamburg Mill Rd. | 10-11 am | $5
Children will learn to ride without training wheels and learn to ride on non-smooth surfaces. Registration is required.
Vegetable Seed Saving

Learn different techniques for saving your own seeds from different families of common garden vegetables.
Friendzy - Speed Friending for Active Adults 50+

Crafty Kids Club: DIY Puppets
