Published: 19/01/2026

The IUF has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vinmonopolet, Norway's alcohol retail monopoly, committing both parties to work together to improve working conditions across the global alcohol industry and throughout its entire supply chain - including the production of agricultural raw materials. This agreement builds on and strengthens the agreements already signedwith the Swedish and Finnish alcohol monopolies, Systembolaget and Alko and has the potential to deliver real and lasting improvements for workers worldwide.

"The IUF welcomes Vinmonopolet's commitment to supporting workers in the alcohol supply chain to accesstheir fundamental workers' rights and improve working conditions. I extend my warm thanks to the Norwegian unions HK with its FKV members, NNN, and Fellesforbundet for co-signing the MoU, for their solidarity and strong commitment to its implementation," said Kristjan Bragason, IUF Acting General Secretary.

The MoU includes an appendix setting out a clear incident reporting process. IUF affiliates are encouraged to actively use this complaint mechanism to raise cases of labour rights violations by employers producing alcoholic beverages or agricultural raw materials for products supplied to Vinmonopolet.
