The President congratulated Türkiye on its national holiday

On Wednesday, President Gitanas Nausėda congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye on the anniversary of the founding of the Republic.

The President noted that Lithuania values Türkiye as a reliable ally in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, contributing significantly to the strengthening of international security, and expressed gratitude for its contribution to the security of our region. President Nausėda expressed his hope that Türkiye's participation in NATO's Baltic Air Policing Mission would further strengthen the security of both countries and the entire region. He emphasized that Lithuania remains committed to further developing cooperation with Türkiye on defense and security issues, including in the field of the defense industry.

The President also highlighted the active and dynamic economic cooperation between the two countries. He welcomed the growing development of tourism and academic ties, as well as expanding partnerships between Lithuanian and Turkish cities, which enrich bilateral dialogue and lay the foundations for an even closer friendship between the two countries.

In his letter, the President reaffirmed Lithuania's support for constructive dialogue between Türkiye and the European Union, which opens up significant opportunities for closer cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, transport, and other key areas, and enables more effective resolution of global issues on the international agenda.

On the occasion of the national holiday, the President wished the people of Türkiye continued success and many years of prosperity.
