A burgeoning partnership with the Connecticut Science Center is a case in point. During the fall semester, the CSC was a client of UHart's student-run marketing agency, Crested Communications. Students worked closely with the Science Center to come up with creative ways to promote the organization and some of its programs.
UHart faculty, staff, and students have also been participating in the Science Center's monthly "Pathways to STEM" nights, which draw students from elementary through high school looking to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
UHart's rocketry club was represented in October. In November, students and faculty from the respiratory care and prosthetics and orthotics programs participated. November's program featured UHart's Formula Society of Automotive Engineers showing off their custom-built race car.
The Connecticut Science Center partnership is one of several that have grown this year, giving students opportunities like never before. UHart students have participated in Masonicare's residency program, for example.
Community partners provide students with internships, collaborative projects, classroom guest speakers, and more. During Career Exploration Day in October, more than 300 UHart students got to visit nearly 20 University partners, from the Connecticut Airport Authority to the Hartford Yard Goats.
