The United States District Court for the District of Kansas is pleased to announce the selection of Judge Mitchell L. Herren as chief bankruptcy judge, effective June 15, 2026.
The court extends our sincere appreciation to Judge Dale L. Somers for his dedicated service and leadership as chief bankruptcy judge since 2018. The court is very grateful for Judge Somers' contributions to the Kansas federal courts. Judge Somers will continue to serve as a bankruptcy judge, presiding over cases in Topeka, Kansas City, and Wichita.
Please join us in welcoming Judge Herren as the next chief bankruptcy judge for the District of Kansas and thanking Judge Somers for his exemplary service.
