Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is investigating two suspicious deaths in the area of 5400 N. Cook St. At this stage in the investigation, the exact cause and manner of death regarding both individuals is still under investigation.
On August 12th, 2026 around 1:00 p.m., Spokane Police officers responded to the area of 5400 N. Cook St to investigate an unattended death.
When officers arrived, they located a deceased individual in a detached garage. The circumstances surrounding this person's death prompted a call to MCU.
MCU responded and while serving a search warrant at the residence located a different deceased individual in a locked bedroom.
MCU was on scene for several hours investigating and processing the scene. Preliminary information at the early stages of this investigation seems to indicate a connection to the deaths. It appears one of the deaths was by criminal means and the investigation is ongoing.
The Medical Examiner's Office will release the identity of the decedents and the cause of death on a later date.
