On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations to the people of Kiribati as you celebrate 47 years of independence on July 12.
Today, we join you in honoring the strength and resilience of the I-Kiribati people. For nearly five decades, the United States has been a proud friend and neighbor of Kiribati. We look forward to further strengthening U.S.-Kiribati ties for the benefit of both our peoples in the years to come.
I wish all I-Kiribati a joyful celebration of your national day.
