On behalf of himself and all the people of Lithuania, President Gitanas Nausėda congratulated Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the country's Independence Day.
According to the President, Brazil is Lithuania's key partner in South America, and the friendly relations between the two nations provide a solid foundation for sincere cooperation at both the bilateral and multilateral levels. The ties between the two countries are further strengthened and enriched by the large and dynamic Lithuanian community living in Brazil.
"I am pleased to note the successful development of business relations between our countries, especially in building partnerships in aviation and innovation. I am certain that there are many untapped opportunities to further strengthen our bilateral dialogue, particularly through joint initiatives in the financial sector, information technologies, biotechnology, renewable energy, and agriculture," wrote Mr. Nausėda in his message of congratulations.
The President emphasized that the unity of the international community remains crucial in addressing global challenges and preserving the rules-based international order, and called on Brazil to actively support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
"With the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil, we are pleased to note that Lithuania is actively engaged in the largest green hydrogen project in the state of Piauí and is contributing to strengthening Brazil's energy security and the reliable supply of liquefied natural gas," said Mr. Nausėda.
The President wished the Brazilian leader and all the people of Brazil unity and prosperity.
