Rep. Gabe Vasquez Votes to Pass Bill to Enhance Law and Order, Public Safety

WASHINGTON, D.C.- On September 11, 2025, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02)voted in support of the Stop Illegal Reentry Act, a bill to protect the rule of law and uphold the regular legal process for those convicted of crimes.

"Law and order is the foundation of a healthy society, and we have to have the right laws in place that allow us to all play by the same rules," said Vasquez. "Anyone in this country who commits a crime should be held to the same standard, regardless of their immigration status. But our nation's outdated immigration laws unfairly push out some of the hardest workers in our communities. That's why I'm proposing immigration reform that creates more pathways to legal status in this country. It's a solution that will allow us to boost our economy, keep our communities safe, and be the best version of America that we can be."

Rep. Vasquez is committed to delivering the practical immigration solutions America needs to live up to its fullest potential and values. He recently introduced the Humane Accountability Act, a bill to mandate oversight and reporting for DHS detention and deportations, and the Strengthening Our Workforce Act, a bill to provide non-citizens working in critical sectors - including agriculture, health care, and emergency workers - a path to lawful permanent status.
