Library hours to be reduced to help close City of Hayward budget deficit

Hayward Public Library is reducing operating hours and eliminating two digital streaming resources as part of citywide cost cutting to close a multi-million-dollar City of Hayward budget deficit.

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Hayward Public Library's hours of operation will be:

  • Sunday Closed
  • Monday Closed
  • Tuesday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Hoopla and Kanopy will no longer be available as a digital streaming resource at Hayward Public Library. The City and the Library understand the impact that this may bring to our Library users and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Although we will be discontinuing these services, the Library is still a resource for movies, music, books, and more that you can check out for free with your Library card along with many of our digital resources like Libby and Alexander Street Collections.

Hayward Public Library is grateful for your continued support and understanding and is committed to serving our community in the best way that we can.
