BOZEMAN - The Museum of the Rockies at Montana State University will invite aspiring astronauts and stargazers of all ages to a day of celestial exploration during its National Space Day Celebration on Saturday, April 25. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offer immersive activities designed tospark curiosity about the universe.
The celebration features STEM-themed activities, crafts, and a rotation of immersive experiences in the Taylor Planetarium. Planetarium showings include "Flight Adventures" at 11 a.m., "Einstein's Gravity Playlist" at noon, "Forward to the Moon" at 1 p.m. and "Galileo: Power of the Telescope" at 2 p.m.
Space-themed talks will feature Addie Zumwalt, a member of MSU's Space Public Outreach Team, at 10:30 a.m.; Andrea Astorga, Space Public Outreach Team member, at 11:30 a.m.; Chantanelle Nava, assistant professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Montana, at 12:30 p.m.; and EricLoberg, program manager of the Taylor Planetarium, at 1:30 p.m.
The celebration is hosted in partnership with MSU's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Optics and Photonics Society and Space Public Outreach Team.
"By integrating their unique expertise into our programming, we are able to offer our community a more dynamic and multi-faceted look at the future of space exploration and STEM innovation," said Katherine Hodge, the museum's director of education and public programming.
