KAUNAKAKAI, Hawai'i - The Hawai'i Department of Transportation (HDOT) will temporarily close Runway 5-23 at the Moloka'i Airport (MKK) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for three days on September 4, 5 and 9, 2026. During the closures, the airport will be closed to air traffic.

The closure is needed to complete grooving and markings on Runway 17-35 near the intersection of Runway 5-23 to maintain airfield compliance with current Federal Aviation Administration standards. All work is weather permitting.

HDOT appreciates the community's patience and understanding while the needed work is conducted to continue safe operations at MKK.
