Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Theoharis’ participation in the 4th Economic Conference of 'Naftemporiki' (Athens, 30.10.2025)

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Theoharis participated in the 4th Economic Conference organized by Naftemporiki, where discussions focused on growth prospects in an environment of constant upheaval and crises, the role of investment and entrepreneurship, the resilience of the productive fabric and Greece's position on the international stage.

Referring to the current state of the Greek economy, Mr. Theoharis stressed that the country has entered a virtuous cycle of growth, which is producing the necessary fiscal outcomes to reduce public debt to levels that ensure resilience against possible future disruptions.

He also underlined that many Greek businesses have now regained their ambition, demonstrating a tangible outward orientation, which creates significant prospects for the overall course of the economy.

Mr. Theoharis pointed out that the necessary transformation of the productive model is already underway, "under the radar", with the share of manufacturing and industry increasing, investments strengthening, and the gap with the European average narrowing. As he noted, "this is a process with more ground to cover, but the trajectory is steadily positive".

He made particular reference to the need to address the trade deficit, noting that recent data show improvement despite fluctuations in oil prices and their impact on imports and exports. "Our exports have already exceeded last year's levels", he stated, pointing out that political stability provides the foundation for even greater enhancement of extroversion.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that since 2019, thanks to the reforms implemented, Greece has established the foundations to face the future with renewed ambition and confidence on multiple levels:

• Geostrategically, by strengthening defense and the formation of strong alliances, making the country an active contributor to shaping international developments.

• Domestically, through the need to boost productivity and reorient the economy toward strategic sectors of growth.

Mr. Theoharis stressed that Greece must embrace the dimension of time and the technological era we live in. "We must embrace artificial intelligence and invest in the education of our youth. This will be our great advantage for the future", he remarked.
