What Happens To Dolly Parton's Active Projects After Her Death

Dolly Parton 's team shared an update on the late legend's projects that remained active at the time of her passing on Tuesday (August 25).

Parton "died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old," stated the official announcement on Tuesday. Representatives for the beloved "I Will Always Love You" singer later confirmed to PEOPLE that Parton died "after bravely facing a brief battle with cancer." The country music community and many others have honored Parton and mourned her loss in emotional tributes since news broke of her passing.

On Wednesday afternoon (August 26), Parton's team "is ensuring her millions of fans around the world that they will continue bringing to life her multitude of projects that were in development," states a press release.

"Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy. Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked, for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come," Parton's longtime manager Danny Nozell, said in a statement. "As the leader of the team responsible for overseeing her legacy, we will ensure the many dreams she had yet to fulfill are brought to life. Many projects were in various stages of development, and we want to be transparent with her fans about this fact. If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences, and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it."

The release states that these are the active projects that were in the works at the time of Parton's passing:

Parton's team states that details on these projects and others (including "a Dolly Musical documentary, a Dolly biopic, a Dolly docuseries, a Dolly scripted series, a Billy The Kid animated series, and many more") "will be revealed soon." The official announcement issued Tuesday states that "Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 - 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 - 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 - 2000). …At Dolly's request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family. Dolly's fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging @DollyParton or by leaving a message at www.dollyparton.com. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library."
