Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union Ambassador Jiang Feng and H.E. Amb. Bankole, Commissioner for PAPS of the AUC Sign Handover Certificate of China’s de-mining[...]

On 12th September, H.E. Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of Chinese Mission to the AU, and H.E. Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the AU Commission, signed handover certificate of China's de-mining assistance to the AU, in the presence of Senior Colonel Guo Baojian, Defense Adviser etc.

Amb. Jiang pointed out that China firmly supports Africa in strengthening its capacity building for peace and security. The signing of this document aligns with President Xi's commitment for an "Action for a Mine-free Africa" during FOCAC Beijing Summit, as a practical step by China to implement Global Security Initiative in Africa. China is willing to work with the AU to create a safer and more stable development environment for Africa to achieve its "2063 Agenda" goals.

Commissioner Bankole highly appreciated China's "Action for a Mine-free Africa" program and expressed gratitude on behalf of H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, AUC Chairperson. He highlighted China's long-term support for the AU peace and security cause is a model for other countries, and noted the AU's readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with China in relevant fields.
