Winsome Sears Begs for Trump's Endorsement Instead of Fighting for Virginia Jobs
A new report from Bloomberg highlights how Winsome Sears is spending her time begging for Donald Trump's endorsement instead of fighting for Virginia jobs.
Sears "met with Trump in the Oval Office at least once to discuss her challenging campaign" and has spent her time "tout[ing] her ties to Trump" instead of focusing on the issues that matter to Virginians - despite the fact that the state's unemployment rate has risen for seven months in a row.
As Bloomberg reports, "Earle-Sears has touted her ties to Trump this cycle … Meanwhile, Spanberger's campaign is focusing its messaging on job losses in the state, cuts to health care, and the candidate's pragmatic record of working across the aisle."
Sears has repeatedly supported Trump and DOGE's attacks on Virginia jobs and mocked the concerns of those who have been laid off, even saying that "the media is making it out to be this huge, huge thing. And I don't understand why" and that job cuts were not "real issues" in Virginia.
"Instead of fighting for Virginia jobs, Winsome Sears has spent her campaign begging for Donald Trump's endorsement," said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. "That's a very real issue that Virginians won't forget in November - especially as they continue to feel the pain from Trump's job and health care cuts that Sears cheered on."

Virginia Lt. Gov Winsome Earle-Sears is continuing to ask President Donald Trump to back her bid in the high-stakes Virginia governor's race - but the president, as of now, is refusing to endorse her.
Earle-Sears has met with Trump in the Oval Office at least once to discuss her challenging campaign […]
[…] Virginia Republicans are considering Trump's noticeable absence as indicating a lack of confidence in keeping the governor's mansion.
Spanberger has a robust fundraising operation and has dominated the airwaves with ads tying Earle-Sears to Trump. The former House member has specifically focused her message on blaming Trump - and Earle-Sears by association - for defunding education in Virginia, as well as DOGE cuts that devastated federal workers who reside in the state.
Republicans are also worried about voter turnout hurting Earle-Sears without Trump's help to get the base out in GOP-heavy areas of the state.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt sidestepped a question on Tuesday on whether Trump would endorse Earle-Sears, saying she left political endorsements up to the president. The White House did not respond to a request for comment on Earle-Sears' meeting with Trump.
Earle-Sears has touted her ties to Trump this cycle, despite publicly saying in 2022 she would not support Trump if he ran for a third presidential term.
Meanwhile, Spanberger's campaign is focusing its messaging on job losses in the state, cuts to health care, and the candidate's pragmatic record of working across the aisle.
