Tulsa Animal Services will waive all adoption fees this weekend, Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5, as the shelter faces low adoption numbers and rising intake.
The municipal shelter, which accepts every animal that comes through its doors, is experiencing increasing pressure as kennels fill and space becomes limited.
"When adoptions slow down, space runs out, and that impacts every animal that comes in after that," said Sherri Carrier, Director, Tulsa Animal Services.
Tulsa Animal Services is asking the community to step in now through adoption or fostering to help relieve capacity and ensure the shelter can continue serving animals in need.
All available pets will be free to adopt during the two-day event and will come spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Please note: The shelter will be closed on Friday, April 3, in observance of the holiday.
This weekend's event is intended to create immediate space and increase placement outcomes for dogs and cats currently in care.
