City Joins Guilford County in State of Emergency Declaration

Due to the impending winter storm, the City of Greensboro has joined Guilford County in its declaration of a state of emergency. The declaration includes all of the municipalities and townships within Guilford County.

By declaring a state of emergency, agencies identified within the Guilford County Emergency Operations Plan, along with other community resources, are charged with coordinating the overall response to the issues and incidents caused by the winter storm.

Residents are encouraged to stay inside on Saturday, January 24, and Sunday, January 25, if possible, and remain off the roads to allow emergency and utility services the ability to work.

Additionally, residents should avoid all downed power lines and be aware of flooding as a result of melting snow and ice.

Power outages should be reported to Duke Energy by calling 800-POWERON (769-3766). Stay current on all City weather-related delays, closures, and event cancellations on the City's website and social media pages.
