Operation Illumination: Shining a Light on Road Safety on November 5

As the days grow shorter, it becomes even more important to stay visible on our roads. Operation Illumination is back on Wednesday, November 5, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., at two locations:

  • Arlandria at the corner of Mount Vernon Avenue & West Reed Avenue
  • Braddock Road Metro at the south end of the Potomac Yard Trail

This annual event focuses on helping pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users stay safe during the darker hours by providing free lights and safety equipment. Our goal is to support those who rely on-or choose-alternative modes of transportation and to enhance visibility for everyone sharing the road.

Join us as we light the way to a safer, more connected community! To learn more about the City's efforts to improve road user safety, visit alexandriava.gov/VisionZero.
