The City of West Hollywood reminds the region that the iconic Halloween Carnaval, one of the most unique Halloween gatherings in the world, returns to Santa Monica Boulevard once again in 2025. Halloween in West Hollywood is anticipated to draw many thousands of costumed revelers to the City's Rainbow District along Santa Monica Boulevard on Friday, October 31, 2025. In addition, there will be Halloween celebrations at West Hollywood's one-of-a-kind bars, restaurants, clubs, hotels, and entertainment venues throughout the City.
In celebration of The Rocky Horror Picture Show's 50th anniversary, 2025 West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the Rocky Horror Picture Show Photo Booth and can dance the "Time Warp" alongside noted Rocky Horror shadow cast Sins of the Flesh.
Initially released in 1975, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has become a beloved global phenomenon that transformed midnight cinema. Based on the musical play by Richard O'Brien - with a screenplay by O'Brien and director Jim Sharman, and produced by Lou Adler and Michael White - The Rocky Horror Picture Show broke the mold with its unforgettable characters, flamboyant costumes, and audacious rock 'n' roll soundtrack. Today, with weekly screenings around the world, The Rocky Horror Picture Show continues to make history as the longest-running theatrical release of all time.
In addition to the tribute at this year's Halloween Carnaval, 2025 has seen many celebrations of the beloved film, including a newly restored 4K Blu-Ray edition, the ongoing 55-city Rocky Horror Picture Show Spectacular tour that features original cast members Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn, and Nell Campbell, a special screening of the newly restored 4K version at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures' David Geffen Theater, the official Rocky Horror fan convention at the legendary Roxy Theatre, a special outdoor screening at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery sponsored by Cinespia, a remastered vinyl edition of the original soundtrack, and much more.
The City of West Hollywood's Halloween Carnaval is free to attend and open to the public. It will take place on Friday, October 31 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on a one-mile stretch of Historic Route 66 along Santa Monica Boulevard between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Cienega Boulevard. The event will feature a stage at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and N. San Vicente Boulevard with a live DJ set, food trucks, and thousands of wildly dressed people in Halloween costumes for a memorable experience.
Certain street closures will be in effect starting at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025 and Santa Monica Boulevard street closures will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025. Street closures will be lifted by 7 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Information about parking, street and facilities closures, transportation, and safety is available in the news section of the City's website.
