The University of New Mexico Honors College's student literary magazine, Scribendi, has been named a 2026 finalist for the Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award, one of the highest honors in collegiate student publications.

The 2026 recognition marks the ninth time Scribendi has been named a Pacemaker finalist, continuing a nearly two-decade tradition of national recognition for the journal and the students who create it. Scribendi previously earned finalist honors in 2006, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025. Of those nine finalist appearances, Scribendi has taken home the Pacemaker four times - in 2006, 2013, 2022, and most recently in 2025.

For the students who create Scribendi, this recognition represents the imagination, collaboration and care that go into bringing each issue to life. Scribendi gives Honors students an opportunity to become editors, designers, curators and publishers, taking creative work from draft to a finished professional publication that reaches a national audience.

The 2026 issue of Scribendi, edited by UNM Honors students under the guidance of Honors Professor Amaris Ketcham, who is currently at the University of Edinburgh on a Fulbright Award, included submissions from honors students from all over the country and was the 40th edition of the creative arts journal.

We are proud to celebrate the creativity, talent and hard work that earned this national recognition," Honors College Dean Naomi Yavneh Klos said. "Scribendi exemplifies much that we love about Honors, and we are grateful to our generous donors who help make our publication possible, including the Western Regional Honors Council (WRHC)."

The entire Honors College team will be cheering them on in November, when Pacemaker winners are announced at the National College Media Convention, presented by the Associated Collegiate Press and the College Media Association.
