Johnson Announces $585,000 in Federal Funds to UT Dallas to Support Biomedical Research

DALLAS, TX - Congresswoman Julie Johnson (TX-32) announced today that Mosaic Family Services in Dallas has received a $750,000 grant from the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women. The funding, awarded through the Legal Assistance for Victims program, will help Mosaic continue its work providing free legal help to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.

"This grant is going to make a real difference for survivors here in North Texas," said Congresswoman Johnson. "When someone is trying to escape abuse, the legal system can feel impossible to navigate alone. Whether it's fighting for custody, securing a protective order, or keeping a roof over their head, having an advocate in their corner makes all the difference. Mosaic has been doing that work for years, and this new funding means they'll be able to reach even more families."

The program is designed to make sure survivors don't have to face the legal system alone. That can mean help with custody battles, eviction notices, immigration paperwork, or simply getting a protective order in place. With this new funding, Mosaic will be able to stand beside even more survivors in North Texas when they're facing some of the hardest moments of their lives.

"Mosaic has earned the trust of our community because they show up for people when it matters most," Johnson added. "This grant recognizes that and ensures their work will continue."

The three-year award builds on prior DOJ support for Mosaic Family Services and will allow them to continue providing life-saving legal advocacy to survivors across North Texas.

Congresswoman Julie Johnson represents Texas's 32^nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving on the Homeland Security Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Administration Committee. Her district includes parts of Collin, Dallas, and Denton Counties.
