What you need to know: The Bakersfield Southwest DMV office will close temporarily for renovations on July 24 at 5 p.m. However, most customers do not have to visit an office and can do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.
Sacramento - The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that the Bakersfield Southwest office, located at 7000 Schirra Court, will close temporarily for renovations beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 24.
Renovations include flooring replacement, modular systems furniture reconfiguration and replacement, fresh interior and exterior paint, exterior signage replacement and parking lot resurfacing. The office is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 2.

Before Going to a DMV Office - Try Online First
Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, such as eligible driver's license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn about options to complete DMV tasks.
Go Paperless - To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver's license renewal notices, sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov to opt in.
