Gov. Henry McMaster Calls General Assembly Back for Extra Session

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Governor Henry McMaster has issued Executive Order 2026-09 to reconvene the General Assembly for an extra legislative session to take up the General Appropriations Act, continue consideration of South Carolina's congressional districts, and address other matters of public importance beginning Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

The governor's Executive Order will remain in effect unless and until modified, amended, or rescinded by a subsequent Order.

Governor McMaster has not reconvened the General Assembly for a special session since 2023, when he became the first governor since Jim Hodges to do so.
