Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and Dr. Lucas Buffaloe will host this year's event. The City will honor the efforts made by Columbia's vibrant arts community. The event will include unveiling the annual City of Columbia commemorative poster (America 250 edition). Local artist opens in a new windowLisa Franko designed this year's commemorative poster.
The City will also pay tribute to an individual who has made significant contributions to the arts through their work with a City-funded nonprofit arts organization.
The Celebration of the Arts raises proceeds for the Columbia Arts Fund. As an endowment, the Fund provides perpetual support for our local arts organizations. Each year, distributions from the fund supplement City dollars to be awarded to local arts and cultural organizations. These include every field: dance, theatre, literature, film, music and visual arts. Growing the Columbia Arts Fund means more arts programs and events in our community. It means expanding access and appreciation and cultivating Columbia's unique culture.
All guests will receive a signed poster and a special discount in the SHSMO bookstore for purchases made during the event. Benefactor, Event and Signature Sponsors will receive a framed poster.
