Chairwoman King Set to Lead the 49th Annual MLK Parade

City of Miami Chairwoman and District 5 Commissioner Christine Kingwill attend and serve as one of the Grand Marshals at the 49th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and Festivities on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Liberty City.

Chairwoman King has proudly participated in the MLK Parade every year since her election, continuing a longstanding commitment to honoring the life, legacy, and leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. District 5 Office staff will also participate in the parade, wearing their signature red t-shirts. Participation in the parade is further recognition of Dr. King's enduring impact and message of unity. This year's parade theme, "Mentoring the Dream!", highlights the importance of uplifting future generations through guidance, opportunity, and community leadership.

"It is an honor to serve alongside my fellow Grand Marshalls, State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert, and community leader Cuthbert 'Broadway' Harewood Jr.," said Chairwoman King. "This parade is a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to serve our communities and continue mentoring the dream for future generations."

Parade route begins at NW 7th Avenue and NW 54th Street, proceeds east on NW 54th Street to NW 32nd Avenue, ending near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park
