Join the Historic Landmarks Commission for a special guest on Monday, Oct. 27

The Historic Landmarks Commission is pleased to feature a presentation by Nicole Possert, executive director of Restore Oregon. Possert will provide an overview of her organization, share current local and statewide preservation work, and discuss opportunities for collaboration and support of future efforts. This presentation will take place at the Historic Landmarks Commission meeting on Monday, Oct. 27, at 1:30 p.m.

Restore Oregon is the state's leading historic preservation organization. Founded in 1977 and formerly known as the Historic Preservation League of Oregon, its mission is to "preserve, reuse and pass forward the places and spaces that reflect Oregon's diverse cultural heritage and make our communities inclusive, vibrant, livable and sustainable."

Possert has more than 25 years of experience in historic preservation with a focus on fundraising, strategic planning and project management.

The Historic Landmarks Commission provides leadership and expertise in maintaining and enhancing Portland's historic and architectural heritage. It identifies and protects buildings and other properties that have historic or cultural significance or special architectural merit. The Historic Landmarks Commission provides advice on historic preservation matters and coordinates historic preservation programs in the City of Portland. It is also involved in the development of design guidelines for historic design districts.

The Historic Landmarks Commission consists of seven members, all of whom have demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge of historic preservation. Members are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council.

Possert's presentation is the first item on the Oct. 27 meeting agenda. Meetings of the Historic Landmarks Commission are open to the public and conducted over Zoom.
