Mayor Strom's statement on Nov. 5 tragedy

As mayor of Lakewood, I want to express our city's inconsolable heartache and sorrow for our fallen agent and our three injured agents. This is a tragedy for the family, friends and colleagues of all of these agents, please know that City Council, city employees and the larger Lakewood community stand beside you with our deepest sympathy and unwavering support.

We are profoundly grateful for the courage and selfless service of these agents who put themselves in harm's way to protect our community. In this darkest of hours, our demonstration of support and condolences are a reflection of the intense respect for the job our agents perform every day. While we are left with an incomprehensible loss, I ask our community to come together to mourn and to care for one another.
