WAILUKU, Maui - The Kula Forest Reserve, Kaonoulu Ranch Cooperative Game Management Area - and the Papa'anui Tract of the Kahikinui Forest Reserve on Maui, will reopen to game bird hunting on Nov. 7.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DLNR DOFAW), Maui Nui Branch, will provide access to hunters only at these adjacent forest reserves on the leeward slopes of Haleakalā on Saturdays, Sundays and state holidays.
Hunters are required to call the permit line at 808-359-0604 on Mondays between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. to schedule a hunting day for the upcoming weekend. If a Monday falls on a state holiday, reservations will be accepted the next workday.
