JSSI Parts & Engines Adds Dedicated Engine Trading Team to Support Operators Facing Engine Shortages

JSSI Parts & Engines' (JPE) dedicated engine trading team provides operators a more direct path to engines at a time when availability remains one of the industry's biggest constraints. With more than $1 billion invested in engines and parts over the last five years, JPE acquires aircraft and engines where demand exceeds supply to proactively support JSSI's hourly cost maintenance clients. The dedicated engine team extends that infrastructure to the broader market, offering whole engines and auxiliary power units (APUs) for sale, lease, and exchange, whether or not they are on a JSSI program.

CHICAGO, October 20, 2026. Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI), the largest independent provider of maintenance support and financial tools to the business aviation industry, today announced a fully dedicated engine trading team within JSSI Parts & Engines (JPE), its aftermarket parts and engine business. The team draws on the same relationships and market data. JPE has long used to track demand across more than 300 makes and models of business jet. JPE has also expanded its Erlanger, Kentucky operations center, adding live tracking on AOG-critical shipments, and will open its first European inventory location beginning in Q1 2027 to support operators across the region. The team will meet with operators, MROs, and brokers this week at NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas, October 20 to 22, at booth #2145.

Built to Keep Program Clients Flying

JPE was launched in 2014 for one reason: to stock, source, and supply parts for aircraft enrolled on JSSI's Hourly Cost Maintenance (HCM) Programs. The goal was simple: those aircraft would spend less time on the ground waiting for a part, and their owners would spend less on the event. When the pandemic disrupted supply chains and left the industry short of parts, that inventory became an industry-wide resource. Today, roughly half of the parts JPE supplies go to JSSI program maintenance events, and half go to operators, MROs, and OEMs that are not enrolled on a JSSI program. The inventory, documentation, and AOG response are the same for both.

The engine and APU pool grew the same way. JSSI has invested more than $1 billion in engines and parts inventory over the past five years. In that time, the pool has grown from roughly 30 engines and APUs to 130+, one of the largest and most diverse rental pools in business aviation. JPE now acquires one or two aircraft every month for teardown and holds more than 100,000 lines of parts, so the asset is on the shelf before an aircraft needs it.

JPE acquires engines and APUs on its own account and offers them to the market for sale, lease, and exchange. Inventory is sourced based on broader industry demand, giving customers a market-facing option for engines and APUs.

A Dedicated Team for Whole Engine and APU Sales, Leasing, and Exchange

For an operator or MRO facing an event, the team's mission is to unlock access: powered by JSSI's global deep network of industry relationships. If the right engine is not already available on the shelf, the team can go to market and source it on the customer's behalf.

JPE Investments: European Parts Availability, Erlanger Operations, and Live Shipment Tracking

This news follows recent investments in JPE. In August, Jamie Benthusen joined as Senior Director of Operations, bringing more than 30 years of aviation aftermarket and global supply chain experience, and is building an operations center of excellence at JPE's 90,000-square-foot distribution center in Erlanger, Kentucky, near Cincinnati. Earlier this month, JPE added Sensos live tracking to its high-value and AOG-critical shipments at no cost to customers, giving them a continuous view of a part, engine, or APU in transit from JPE's distribution center to their hangar, independent of carrier scans. And beginning in Q1 2027, JPE will have parts available in Europe, helping operators and MROs in the region access parts faster, whether or not they are on a JSSI program.
