Screening of "The Path": a Film by Aibek Baiymbetov

This ethnographic documentary examines the living oral tradition of the Kyrgyz Manas epic through the lens of Kulmat, a manaschy (epic storyteller) whose vocation was divinely ordained in a visionary dream. The film investigates the intersection of individual spiritual experience and collective cultural heritage, exploring Kulmat's belief that the epic embodies the voices of ancestors. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with the filmmaker.

Adaptive Sailing Adventure - Must Register by May 20

Join the Parks and Recreation Department's Adaptive Program at the Harbor in Rockwall and enjoy a walk along the pier. Board the Sapphire Star for a 90-minute cruise under the colorful evening sky on Lake Ray Hubbard. All participants must have some form of disability to participate. Bring extra money for dinner. There will be dinner at the harbor before heading to the waterfront. Manual wheelchairs only. Sailing begins at 7:30 p.m. The sunset cruise makes for a wonderful after-dinner treat.

UT Dallas Hosts Summer Chess Camps for Kids and Teens - Registration Open

Children and teens ages 8-17 can learn chess or perfect existing skills. Classes are small with a low student-to-teacher ratio and students grouped by ability, age, experience and instructor assessment.
