Albany County Hosts First Business Roundtable to Strengthen Partnership with Local Organizations

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy today welcomed representatives from businesses and nonprofit organizations for the County's first "Doing Business with Albany County" roundtable discussion, an initiative aimed at improving communication, identifying barriers, and creating new opportunities for collaboration between County government and the local organizations it serves.

The roundtable brought together stakeholders from a variety of sectors to discuss ways Albany County can streamline processes, improve access to services, increase awareness of contracting opportunities, and better support economic growth throughout the region.

"Albany County is committed to being an efficient, responsive, and trusted partner," said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. "We put millions of dollars in contracts out to bid each year through requests for proposals and requests for bids, and we want to ensure our local businesses and nonprofit organizations have every opportunity to compete for that work. Just as importantly, we want to hear directly from our partners about how we can improve their experience working with County government."

Participants discussed opportunities to raise awareness of procurement opportunities, identify regulations and processes that may need modernization, and strengthen connections to resources available through the Advance Albany County Alliance.

The conversation also addressed quality-of-life challenges impacting businesses and organizations, including homelessness, mental health concerns, and addiction. County officials highlighted existing resources and explored ways to improve coordination and communication to better support local employers, workers, and communities. Albany County plans to host additional roundtables in the future and will continue working with community partners to identify practical solutions that support economic growth and improve service delivery throughout the County.
