USDA Seeks Nominees for National Potato Promotion Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominations for the National Potato Promotion Board. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 15, 2026.

From the nominees, the Secretary of Agriculture will appoint 53 producer members and two importer members with terms beginning Mar. 1, 2027, and expiring either Feb. 2028, 2029, or 2030 as indicated below.

Nominees are requested to succeed members in:

• Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Terms ending: Feb. 29, 2028.
• Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho (two seats), Indiana, and Wisconsin. Terms ending Feb. 28, 2029.
• Colorado, Florida, Idaho (eight seats), Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota (two seats), Ohio, Oregon (two seats), Virginia, Washington (three seats), Wisconsin, and Importers (two seats). Terms ending Feb. 28, 2030.

Since 1966, Congress has authorized industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. AMS provides oversight to 21 boards. Oversight ensures fiscal accountability and program integrity and is paid for by industry assessments.
