Santa Rosa, CA - U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and California State Senator Mike McGuire hosted their 'Economy for All' town hall this week to hear directly from constituents on the economic issues affecting them and laid out ways they're working to bring down costs and make the economy work for all Californians.

Schiff and McGuire answered questions on a range of issues, including their work to promote affordability and bring down the cost of living, the need to build more housing, Trump's illegal war with Iran, health care access, wildfire management and disaster aid, and abuses of power by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

"Today, the problem is not that people are unemployed. Today the problem is people are employed, and they still can't get by. And I think when you have millions of people who look at the quality of life their parents had and think it was better than what they have - and look to the future and are filled with doubt about what it means for their kids - all too many are willing to entertain any demagogue who comes along promising they alone can fix it. And I don't think our democracy is going to be on solid ground until our economy is working for people again. Until we have an economy for all Americans again," Schiff said at the town hall.

"One of the reasons I got involved with public service was because of John F. Kennedy. I'm originally from Boston, and the Kennedys were these mythic figures who inspired a whole generation of people into public service. And I would say there is a role for you. There is a need for you. There is so much you can get done and accomplish. And whether you make this your full-time pursuit or a part-time pursuit, find a way to be involved. Find a way to make a difference. Speaker Pelosi likes to say, "Know your power." And the reality is, we all have power. Our circle may be large, or it may be small, but we all have the ability to influence those around us. Use that influence. And I have every confidence that the future will be a lot brighter than it is today," Schiff continued.
