Rotation of Serbian Armed Forces contingent in Sinai mission

The Ministry of Defence announced today that members of the Serbian Armed Forces who had been deployed in the international peacekeeping operation in the Sinai Peninsula since March this year have returned to Serbia following the successful completion of their deployment and handover of duties.

This was the sixth contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces in the mission of the independent peacekeeping organisation, the Multinational Force and Observers, established under the 1981 agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Israel with the aim of implementing the security provisions of the 1978 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty.

In the area of operations, they were replaced by members of the seventh rotation of the Serbian Armed Forces engineering unit, who, following the handover of duties, began their six-month deployment carrying out the same tasks.

The Serbian Armed Forces began participating in this mission in July 2023.
