Monmouth University's Class of 2029 has earned the distinction of being the most academically prepared class in the University's 92-year history, boasting the highest grade point average (3.67), the highest SAT scores submitted for evaluation (1225), and the most Honors School enrollments (126) of any incoming first-year cohort.
Monmouth also welcomes a record number of students to its thriving first-generation and/or low-income (FLI) community, who make up 55.8 percent of the first-year class. First generation students comprise a record high 41.3 percent of the class, while 40.8 percent of incoming first-year students are Pell Grant-eligible, also the most in the University's history.
"The students in this incoming class bring the strongest academic credentials in our history, a broad range of lived experiences, and a clear commitment to shaping their futures," said President Patrick F. Leahy. "They chose Monmouth because we deliver rigorous academics and real opportunity. The profile of this class demonstrates our progress toward becoming a national leader in integrating excellence and access. We remain focused on expanding pathways to success without compromising quality."
The University continues to cement its leadership in integrating excellence and access, through the expansion of the Monmouth Promise, aimed at making private higher education more accessible to high-achieving New Jersey students. Monmouth Promise awards are combined with Pell and TAG grants to cover full tuition and fees for qualified students, less the federal Direct Subsidized Loan ($3,500 for first-year students). Monmouth Promise enrollments grew by 400 percent year-over-year, resulting in 100 students enrolling in this year's cohort.
