Denmark Constitution Day

Press Statement

Marco Rubio, Secretary of State

June 5, 2026

On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of the Kingdom of Denmark on the occasion of your Constitution Day.

This year marks a significant milestone in our bilateral history: 225 years of friendship and uninterrupted diplomatic ties. As the United States observes its own 250th anniversary of independence, we recognize the durability of a partnership spanning more than two centuries. This relationship is underpinned by deep historical connections, including the nearly 1.5 million Americans of Danish descent who contribute to the cultural fabric of our nation from its very beginning.

As Allies, the United States and Denmark maintain a shared commitment to transatlantic security and regional stability. We value the Kingdom's role in the Arctic, its consistent contributions to security, and its remarkable spirit of innovation. Beyond our security alignment, our cooperation continues to expand through trade and investment which contribute to our long friendship.

The United States looks forward to continuing our collaboration with the people of Denmark to address regional challenges and support shared prosperity in the years ahead.

I extend my best wishes for a peaceful and joyous celebration.
