House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Insurance Rates to Hold Second Meeting in Savannah

ATLANTA - Chairman Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) announces the second of five House Blue Ribbon Study Committee on Insurance Rates hearings to be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Georgia Southern University's Armstrong Campus in Savannah.

Chairman Reeves will also be available to the media in advance of the hearing via zoom on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. online hereand on the day of the meeting, Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the meeting location.

The Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Insurance Rates is conducting a thorough examination of the insurance industry's rate-setting practices, profit margins, claims processing and regulatory compliance to ensure that Georgia's businesses, citizens and consumers are not being subjected to unjustified rate hikes. In addition to the general issues outlined in the committee's scope, the committee invites speakers on September 19 to address homeowners and property insurance, including the impact of storms on claims and rates.

"We are looking for ways to make insurance more affordable for hardworking Georgians," said Chairman Reeves.

Future hearings will be held on October 17 in Columbus, November 21 in Macon, and December 18 in Gwinnett County.
