New Hampshire Resident Sentenced for Medicaid Fraud

The Attorney General's Office announced that former Vermont Medicaid service provider, Brian Prouty, 39, of Hinsdale, New Hampshire, was sentenced today in Windsor County Superior Court on one misdemeanor count of Fraud by False Pretenses for submitting false timesheets regarding supposed care provided to another individual. The charge brought against Mr. Prouty resulted from an investigation conducted by the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud and Residential Abuse Unit (MFRAU).

The Court, Judge Elizabeth Mann presiding, deferred sentencing for two years, during which time Mr. Prouty will remain on probation and pay $24,376 in restitution. In addition, Mr. Prouty will waive expungement of his criminal record for five years and will not work again as a Medicaid service provider. His conviction is eligible for dismissal if he successfully completes probation.
