On 2 April, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys will participate remotely today in a multinational meeting on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The informal meeting will be held at the invitation of Yvette Cooper, the UK's Foreign Secretary. Its aim is to discuss diplomatic measures and possible practical steps to ensure safe navigation and the transit of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz serves as one of the most important arteries for global trade and the supply of energy resources. Iran's military actions and tensions in the Middle East are restricting freedom of navigation, endangering seafarers, and creating serious economic and security consequences that are felt beyond the region.
Foreign Ministers from forty countries will also participate in the meeting.
