St. Pete Residents Can Request Christmas Tree Disposal, Pickup Starts Dec. 29

St. Pete Residents Can Request Christmas Tree Disposal, Pickup Starts Dec. 29

Dec. 22, 2025 - To close out the holiday season, St. Petersburg residents can request their live Christmas trees to be collected from the City of St. Petersburg, free of charge. Residents are invited to request a special pickup by submitting a photo in the SeeClickFix app or by calling the Sanitation Department at 727-893-7398.

With the number of households opting for artificial trees growing, the City is only collecting trees from customers who submit a special pickup request rather than performing a citywide sweep, as the City has done in years past. Detailed instructions can be found below.

Live Christmas Tree Disposal Instructions

  • Submit a special pickup request in the SeeClickFix app with a photo, or call 727-893-7398 to have your live tree collected.

  • Remove all lights, ornaments, garland, tree stands, plastic tree disposal bags, and other decorations. The City recommends reducing waste by reusing lights and ornaments or donating them. Do not place any Christmas tree accessories in the recycling bin.

  • Place the tree out for collection before 7 a.m. in the same location where trash is usually collected. If trash is picked up at the curb, trees should be placed at the curb; if trash is picked up in the alley, trees should be placed in the alley.

  • Do not place the tree inside trash or recycling containers or lean the tree against electrical poles, trash containers, water meters, etc.

  • Residents of apartments and condos should check with property managers on proper disposal of all types of Christmas trees.

  • Details can be found at https://www.stpete.org/SpecialPickUp.

Collection will take place between December 29, 2025, and February 9, 2026.

Residents can also drop off live trees at one of the City's brush sites listed below. Brush sites are open 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., seven days a week. Brush sites are closed on New Year's Day, January 1.
