M-26/Canal Road intersection traffic signal in Houghton to go into flash mode Oct. 28

HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will place the traffic signal on M-26 at Canal Road in Houghton into flash mode for the season beginning in the early morning of Wednesday, Oct. 28. The signal will flash yellow for M-26 and flash red for Houghton Canal Road for the winter. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

MDOT urges drivers to be aware of these signal changes and use caution when approaching the intersection.

MDOT installed this signal in summer 2025 and plans to operate it from approximately May until October each year with the signal placed in flash mode during the winter months. The exact schedule for seasonal operation of the signal depends on traffic volumes and weather conditions.
