The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs will hold the OSCE Chairpersonship Conference on Cyber/ICT Security in Helsinki from 30 September to 2 October. The event aims to promote a comprehensive approach to security, which means involving the whole of society in ensuring security.
The programme for the Conference on Cyber/ICT Security will feature speeches from experts, panel discussions and side events, which offer perspectives on strengthening cyber resilience in the OSCE region.
The participants will discuss responsible state behaviour in cyberspace and the role of public-private partnerships in responding to cyber security threats. The event will explore challenges and opportunities created by artificial intelligence and other new technologies in promoting peace and security.
"Cybersecurity is a central pillar of national and international security. It is about ensuring that digital technologies support freedom of expression, privacy, and democratic integrity. Finland strongly supports the OSCE's work on responsible state behavior in cyberspace. A secure digital environment is one that protects people, enables trust, and strengthens democratic institutions," says Permanent State Secretary Jukka Salovaara.
The event will bring together many experts, researchers, public officials and representatives of civil society, international organisations and businesses from the OSCE's participating States and Partners for Co-operation.
The conference will comply with responsible meeting practices. These practices aim to minimise adverse effects of events and enhance the positive impact they have on the environment, society and the economy.
The event is part of the programme of Finland's OSCE Chairpersonship. Finland is holding the OSCE Chairpersonship in 2025.
