Drazan Welcomes Convicted Violent Criminal Greg Gianforte to Oregon in Yet Another Campaign Stop with MAGA Extremist

Portland, OR - After fundraising alongside anti-abortion extremist Ron DeSantis this weekend, Christine Drazan is hosting an event in Oregon today with MAGA extremist and convicted criminal Greg Gianforte in another attempt to prop up her flailing campaign.

Gianforte - who Trump called "my guy" after he assaulted a reporter - has regularly defended and acted up Trump's MAGA agenda:

• Gianforte signed legislation banning sanctuary cities in Montana, then retaliated against local jurisdictions that attempted to limit their involvement with the Trump administration's cruel ICE raids.
• He approved a slate of anti-abortion bills, including legalized discrimination for medical professionals and an abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest.
• He supported strict voter suppression laws, and attempted to pass legislation restricting same-day voter registration, a bill that was later deemed unconstitutional.

Looking at Drazan's voting record, she is perfectly aligned with Gianforte on these issues. As a legislator, she sought to bring similar right-wing policies to Oregon. On immigration, Drazan voted againstfourdifferentbills preventing discrimination against individuals based solely on immigration status, and referred to protestors standing up to Trump's cruel ICE agenda as "violent mobs and domestic terrorists." As a self-described "pro-life woman," Drazan has said that she would veto legislation expanding abortion protections in Oregon, and has been endorsed both in this race and her previous failed campaign for Governor by Oregon Right to Life, an extreme anti-abortion group that opposes abortions without exceptions for rape, incest or health of the mother, as well as opposing access to contraceptives and IVF. And, further aligning herself with the anti-democracy MAGA agenda, Drazan introduced legislation that would have completely overturned Oregon's vote-by-mail system.

"Christine Drazan has been trying to hide her extremist record, but as soon as it's time to raise money, she trots out the absolute worst of the MAGA worst," said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. "Gianforte is not only a far-right extremist in lock-step with MAGA Republicans like DeSantis and Trump, he is also a convicted violent criminal. Christine Drazan is sending a clear message by choosing to fundraise with Gianforte: she will always back the MAGA agenda over Oregon values."
