EAST NEWARK, NJ - Today, Congressman Rob Menendez and East Newark Mayor Dina Grilo announced $1,031,000 in Community Project Funding to enhance public safety and protect residents across the Borough. The funding, secured by Congressman Menendez in an annual appropriations bill, will replace aging public safety equipment, technology, and vehicles, and support infrastructure upgrades.

"I am proud to deliver federal funding for critical public safety upgrades in East Newark that will modernize equipment, strengthen local infrastructure, and help keep our community safe," said Congressman Menendez. "It is a privilege to work with Mayor Grilo and invest in the resources our community needs to respond effectively to emergencies, improve preparedness, and ensure East Newark is well equipped to protect and serve its residents."

"This funding will enhance our public safety capabilities and help ensure our officers have the tools they need to protect and serve our residents every day," said Mayor Grilo. "I want to thank Congressman Menendez for his continued partnership and for securing this important investment for East Newark."

East Newark's public safety equipment and infrastructure enhancement project aims to replace aging public safety equipment, technology, and vehicles, and support infrastructure upgrades. These enhancements will provide local law enforcement with the necessary tools they need while working to keep East Newark safe.

Congressman Menendez secured $1,031,000 for this project through the appropriations process as part of $19,142,000 in federal funding that he is delivering for our communities this fiscal year.

Menendez will continue to push for federal funding for local law enforcement in an effort to keep communities across the state safe.
