MaineGeneral Welcomes Future Scrubs Club of 2026

On Tuesday, July 21 and 22 MaineGeneral welcomed this year's Future Scrubs Club to the Alfond Center for Health!

Future Scrubs Club serves as a hands-on introduction for students who want to explore careers in health care, allowing them to build a clear pathway toward future education and career opportunities.

This year students from towns including Augusta, Boothbay Harbor, China, Sidney, Skowhegan and more worked with medical staff to get real-world experience. From checking blood pressure and oxygen levels, to completing a thyroid ultrasound, to nuclear medicine injections, students closely observed health care professionals in an authentic setting.

Greg Zimba, MaineGeneral's career navigator, said: "One of the things I enjoy most about coordinating Future Scrubs Club is giving local high school students the chance to experience health care careers firsthand. Over two days, students spend time with our nursing and imaging teams through hands-on activities, tours and conversations with the professionals doing this work every day."
