Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan with UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Melissa Fleming

On September 23, in New York, on the margins of the 80th Session of the UNGA, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Melissa Fleming, UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the dramatic rise in disinformation and hate speech in the current sensitive geopolitical environment, as well as on new and diverse channels of dissemination. The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of support from the international community, in particular the UN and its specialized agencies, in advancing cooperation aimed at enhancing digital resilience, media literacy, and digital responsibility.

The meeting also touched upon prospects for expanding cooperation in capacity-building. Robert Abisoghomonyan stressed the willingness of Armenia to engage in initiatives aimed at promoting collaboration and the exchange of expertise in the areas of modern information technologies and public communication.
