Stantec selected to lead latest phase of Green Economy Financing Facility in Türkiye

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been selected by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide technical assistance services for phase three of the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Türkiye.

GEFF Türkiye is an EBRD credit line that provides funds via local financial institutions to support businesses, homeowners, and the public sector. The funds can be used to make green investments that enhance energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate resilience. The goal is to support climate change mitigation, support adaptation to new conditions, and help Türkiye's transition to a greener economy and strengthening competitiveness.

The GEFF III program will also focus on investments in the provinces most affected by the 2023 earthquakes, including Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya, among others. Through targeted support and capacity building, the program aims to empower local financial institutions to drive sustainable investments aligning with Türkiye's 2053 net-zero emission goals.

The €1 billion program builds on the success of GEFF I and GEFF II, which are also implemented by Stantec. GEFF III will focus on scaling up financing for renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, nature and biodiversity, and low-carbon transport and tourism. As Facility Consultant, Stantec will support participating financial institutions in developing green financial products, strengthening institutional capacity, and delivering technical assistance to provide effective implementation of the program. Over the next four years, Stantec will provide comprehensive support to participating financial institutions, including onboarding, training, marketing, and operational tool development.

"This project is about more than financing," said Murat Sarioglu, regional managing director for Stantec in Türkiye. "It's about building resilience, restoring communities, and supporting a sustainable future. We are honored to carry on closely collaborating with EBRD and our partners to deliver meaningful change where it's needed most."

Stantec specializes in climate finance, environmental governance, and sustainable infrastructure across Türkiye and the wider region. Beyond GEFF, Stantec's Turkish team has been involved in all previous iterations of the EBRD's green financing facilities including MidSEFF, TuREEFF, and TurSEFF.
